The travelling exhibition “I wouldn’t trade this land for great riches. Jonas Aistis”, prepared by the Kaišiadorys Museum, opens the door to the world of the poet’s life and work.

Visitors will get to know the most important stages of Jonas Aistis’s life – from his childhood in Kampiškės and Rumšiškės, his studies at Lithuanian and French universities, to his emigration to the United States of America, where he was active in cultural and social activities: he was a lecturer of the Lithuanian language at the College of Mariannapolis, he worked at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and he was a contributor of reviews of the press and books of the occupied Lithuania for the Committee on a Free Europe.

The exhibition presents his most famous collections of poems, critical articles, journalistic texts, manuscripts, photographs and other treasures reflecting the twists and turns of Jonas Aitis’ biography and creative development.

Rediscover the personality of Jonas Aitis and his poetic world!

The exhibition will run from 2 July to 23 August 2025 in the Art Deco Salon of the Lithuanian Museum of Education (1st floor).
