The Lithuanian Museum of Education invites you to explore the history of Lithuanian passports in the exhibition “The First Photo in Life. Or the History of Lithuanian Passports”.
When was the first time in the history of the Lithuanian nation that the universal use of passports was introduced? When were the first passports issued in Alytus County? Why was it necessary to carry an identity document?

In addition to answering these questions, the exhibition provides a wealth of interesting facts about the meaning, development and characteristics of personal documents. Visitors to the exhibition will also have the unique opportunity to experience how people were photographed at a time when a passport photo was often the first photograph in their lives.
We invite you to a unique insight into Lithuanian passports, which reflected not only the individual identity of a person, but also the development of the state and society at that time.

The exhibition will run from 29 July to 31 August 2025.
In the exhibition space of the Lithuanian Museum of Education (1 a).
The exhibition is open to the public with a general museum admission ticket.
