Game History Festival at the Lithuanian Education Museum
Experience the history of games!
On October 22, the Lithuanian Education Museum invites you to a special event where games will become a bridge between the past and the present. Inspired by the international project “Timeless Game: Revival of Old Games in Lithuanian-Polish Border Communities,” the Game History Festival invites you to embark on a journey through history: experience the spirit of play, learn about the evolution of games, and try out recreated historical games.
Experience knowledge.
The first part of the event will invite students to open the door to the world of game history. During educational activities, students will briefly learn about different historical games and their historical journeys to Lithuania, as well as have the opportunity to test their skills by playing the game “Journey through European Universities,” reinforcing their knowledge of geography and history and discovering a playful way of learning.
Experience togetherness.
The afternoon of the festival is dedicated to seniors – with warm tea, refreshments, and ten recreated ancient games. These games, played since Viking times and still alive today, connect generations and remind us that community is an unbroken tradition. It is an invitation to remember, socialize, and compete together for victory.
Experience an adventure.
The evening part will invite you to an entertaining game tournament in different areas of the museum. Participants will try out three ancient games, collect stamps, win prizes, and move on to the next stage – the final event. Ancient treats, gifts, and symbols of the past await – Vikings who will ignite the spirit of play and discovery.
