Opening

2026 January 15 - 2026 January 15

17:30 - 18:30

On January 15, 2026, at 5:30 p.m., the Lithuanian Education Museum invites you to an exhibition of paintings by Prof. Dr. Remigijus Venckus, entitled “FREEDOM AND COINCIDENCE: without a predetermined trajectory…”

About the exhibition
Painting manifesto. A work of art is the result of the author’s struggle with his thoughts and materials (e.g., canvas, paint, etc.). This struggle exists even when the viewer is overwhelmed by the initial impression that the work came into being with a single, light, and elegant stroke of the hand. The aspect of struggle shows that painting is not just a gift to the viewer; it also plays a role in the self-awareness of the creator and the marking of his existence.
The unruly brush, the changing and heterogeneous composition – these are the hallmarks of the author’s work, which is shaped not only by the desire to experiment and speak about reality in different ways, but also by the search for a unique artistic language.

The author of the exhibition is Vilnius Tech (Vilnius Gediminas Technical University) media artist and art critic Prof. Dr. Remigijus Venckus. He creates interdisciplinary art, curates art exhibitions, teaches and visits universities in Lithuania and abroad, and writes on contemporary art and media culture. The artist most often creates by ingeniously combining experimental photography and computer graphics, as well as using acrylic painting and collage. The themes he develops are memory, time, individual experience, and interpretations of the body. He has 22 years of academic work experience. He has held 10 solo exhibitions abroad and 85 in Lithuania; he has participated in 51 international and 41 local art events/exhibitions. His works are held in art museums and private collections in Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and Germany. He has written 440 critical essays (articles) on art, culture, and media issues. He is the curator of 26 international and 13 national art events, festivals, and exhibitions.
