Opening

2025 October 15 - 2025 October 15

17:30 - 18:15

On October 15, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., the Lithuanian Education Museum invites all art lovers to the opening of the exhibition “The Need for Image” by the renowned Lithuanian artist Žygimantas Augustinas. The exhibition will be on display at the museum until November 15, 2025.

The exhibition presents two visual studies: “The Case of K. Donelaitis” and “The Descendant Project.”
The first is a doctoral research project that led to Ž. Augustinas becoming the first Doctor of Arts in the field of fine arts in Lithuania.
The second part of the exhibition, “Portrait of a Descendant,” touches on the love story of Sigismund Augustus, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, and Barbora Radvilaitė.
Driven by his passion for portraiture, the author reveals how images of people who cannot be seen or photographed are created.

Craniometry was chosen as the main creative tool.
In short, it is research through art.
Without going into further detail, we promise that every visitor to the exhibition will be able to take their time enjoying masterful traditional painting based on scientific data.

The event is free of charge.
The event will be photographed and/or filmed. Photos and videos may be used to publicize the event on social networks, websites, in the press, and other publicity channels.
